The Ladies Soar in their last weekend of the season

This past weekend was the busiest ever for the Carolina Lady Eagle program and last for the 2017-2018 season. We had every player in the program playing in the DC area in a 3 day marathon of games. The U19’s at Districts, the U16’s playing U19 at the ponytail, our 12’s making their tournament debut, and our 10’s on loaner to RYHA to help make a team.

The U19’s had to play through NOVA, Potomac and Nashville to make the 2018 USA Hockey Nationals in Marlborough. NOVA won all three of it’s round robin games so it was between Potomac and the Lady Eagles get a crack at them in the final. Goals were traded back and forth with the Eagles tying it up in the last minute fo the 3rd period. The overtime period was full of chances for both teams and going into the 56th minute of playing time Potomac took the win 4-3. Facebook photo album

This night was also senior night for 8 of our players. While they do not age out of hockey (remember that  ladies) they do graduate and start to move on with their own lives. We wish them the best of luck in their future as it will be a great one. Posters were made and placed on the bench and a ceremony back at the hotel later with some small tokens of appreciation from the team and organization.

The U16’s took a spot in the U19 top division playing the U19AA Quakers, The U19AA Midcoast Royals and the U16AAA Washington Pride. The U16’s took the first 2 round robin games against the 19AA teams and won a birth to the final. Sunday came and the Pride was on the docket for 2 games on the Olympic ice. The Ladies played their hearts out both times in 2 great games of end to end action but failed to get a win again the Pride and their bench of 20. Many coaches and players said we were the only team that "made them work for the win". Our Ladies truly soared that day.

The 12’s also played in the highest division versus Team Carolina, NOVA and the Quakers.  After going down 3-0 quick vs NOVA they never looked back outscoring their opponents 9-4 the rest of the weekend, getting Astrid a shutout in the final game. These ladies had a very short 3 week season and went 2-1-2 this year. They had a great time and the bonds made will last forever as they look forward to part time or full time girls hockey next season. Facebook photo album

Last but not least were two of our squirts went on loaner with the RYHA U10 team. Recording some key goals during the weekend were from current and Alumni Eagles. Our goalie recorded 4 shutouts to take RYHA to take the banner in the B division.

The future is bright for our ladies of all ages in life and in hockey. We wish them all the best in the off season and hopefully see them all at our Clinics, Camps and  tryouts in May.
